On saturday before the yearbook mini golf event I meet with Mauro, the owner of Bamboo Sushi, he is a La Paz parent that wants to help out with my CAS project. We talked about the project and my experience in it which was my motivation to start the schoolarship fund. We agreed that Bamboo was a better option because it was open for longer time and it had more space for people. He said that the date that worked the best for him was the week of the 22nd of February and there isn't any events that weekend which is good. He said he would give a 10% but not from all the proceeds, only from the people that mentioned that they are from La Paz or show their student ID. The good thing is that it is opened from 11am-10pm, 11 hours for La Paz members to show up.
I wanted to ask him if the proceeds from all that day and maybe a lower percentage like 5% but I felt like I was asking to much. This is something that would go under the category of ethical implications and working with others. It's ethical because I ask myself where I should as for more or not because they are already helping a lot just by accept to give a percentage. Before the meeting I was asking myself if I should just ask for 10% or 5% of all the proceeds of the night, but I just didn't feel it was right, I felt it was better when the parent proposed it because it's coming from their good will and not from a student that is demanding for help. In the meeting I decide to just tell him how it works, some restaurants have it only members of La Paz, other have it all night and the different % ranges. I think it¿'s also good this way because it changes in each restaurant and it's not always the same percentage and the same "rules".
I hope that turns out well, I have a week and a half to announce it, I need to make a flyer some time this week but I feel a little overwhelm because there are a lot of this that I need to do this week because I way a day and a half on our San Jose field trip.
This week I need to finish the raffle templates, I have two versions and I need to see which one will be better. I also need to set up the prices and think of different places to sell the tickets that way more people buy it. For example maybe ask Papaya con Leche is they are interested in having some tickets there for the people that live in Tamarindo. Then have both campuses and I need to find other places to sell tickets in flamingo and Potrero.
I also need to decide ASAP if I will be selling food during the Poetry Night, it would be a good chance too raise more money if nobody has already taken it. I would take Sonia's offer of donating food and sell it during the event. I was think about the coffee house but I didn't think it would have been ethical to take it away from the art/music department because they also need to raise money. I will speak with Miss Amy and Yoann about the idea to see if it's fisable and get in touch with Sonia to ask her for the food donations.
So much to do!!!
