Snaps for good hearted people

I'm so excited I can't even write! It's been a while since I wrote and I feel really guilty about but I have like super amazing news! The event is going very well :) Last week I was not in touch with Hilda because it was aster week and there is a lot of people in the area and the hotel was very busy. However the week before Easter, we created a list of all the contacts that we knew that could donate prizes for the raffle and the silent auction, I don't have the numbers of all the people that we contacted becuase Hilda would send the letter through the hotel's emails because it's there event and they are donating the proceeds. After sending out the emails, we got responses and Hilda and I are making the gift certificates for the prizes. It's becoming a good outcome because Hilda knows a lot of people and she was sold all of her tickets and she says that we might have 60 people instead of 40 people, which is really good and the prices range from $50-$400 which means we will be raising a lot of money! This is really excited and Denis got this passport during vacation and with help of amazing people from the community that will help us get him a visa!

Soon I will be writing about how I work with others, Hilda is as if I was working with myself and know I see how challenging it is for other people.

Planning and initiating more professional and larger activities.

Undertaking new challenges by working with new people and a different type of event.

Showing perseverance and commitment because I've been having trouble fundraising but I haven't given up and now I have a great fundraising event.

Who said event time?!?!

It's spring break! But that doesn't mean that I won't be working on CAS! I have a lot of free time now and I will be working on my up coming event! It will be what I wanted to do but better and sooner which is a challenge but I have a great mentor for this event.

It turns out that Miss Geneva had a great opportunity for me. Her friend Hilda, and her husband Simone are the owner of Hotel Conchal and the Restaurant Papaya in Brasilito. I met both of the on Monday because they want to do a charity event to overcome a fire that they had at their hotel last year. They want to leave that behind by having a charity event, I find that a very special way to move on and helping others. Hilda was very generous she doesn't want any of the proceed, she only needs to cover the cost of the event and then all the proceeds will go to the scholarship fund! I told her about the event and what I had done to fundraiser and she was surprised with my determination to get the students to the camp that she said that we will work together to get all the funds in one night.

Our meeting was at the restaurant, it was lovely, on a second floor and it was very fresh and I know it will look very pretty during the event. Hilda showed us how they had light of different colors for that night and explain me how she planed in setting up and I got really excited. The only this that I will be a small event, the restaurant can hold about 40 people, but it will be elegant and there will also be a silent auction and a raffle. The other thing is that it's planned to be in April 25th, in about 3 weeks, but Hilda know a lot of people around and she is very organized and we planned to get the prices of the raffle, silent auction, tickets and flyer's done by this week. I will in charge of publicity and helping her out by calling a few places to see if they are interested in donating something for the silent auction. The other thing that I'm in charge of is getting volunteer to help as waiters or waitresses, but I'm sure I can get a few students to volunteer.

I'm not really worried about this event, I'm actually really excited because Hilda knows a lot of people around the area that will love to help and she is also very organized and generous and we are constantly keeping in touch and letting each other know on what is going on. I'm usually the type of person that doesn't like to work collaboratively with other, however if they are people like Hilda, how are organize and have a similar energy like myself than I'm even more efficient than usual. Another thing that I'm learning through this event is showing adults that I can take more responsibilities, at first Hilda was taking more to do, but I slowly showing her that I can be in charge of other things regarding the event. For example we will be dividing up the places in which we will be asking for donations for the silent auction, and at first Hilda was going to do it all herself.

This is just a quick overview of how things are being planned. Later on the week I should have more updates on specific details of the event, such as times, prices, and sponsors.
