Moving forward

Well this week I feel really confident about CAS and I hope that it will stay that way for the rest of the year. This week I accomplished few things:

-I spoke with Jim, he will take the responsibility to find a place to stay for the student(s). He will speak with the counselor and college teachers to see how would like to help out.

-I will have a raffle this trimester. It will either be and iPad that Jim will bring down or something that Frijoles Locos donates if they answer my email. I'm really thing about the iPad because it will be a big investment.

-I spoke briefly with Miss Kellie (she was sick for most of the week) about the students who should go. There are three possible candidates and we will see throughout the trimester if we will need to choose one or two of the three.

-The owners from Don Brasilito never answer so I  email the parents that own Bamboo Sushi and Patagonia and see if they are interested to host a family dinner the 8th of February.

-I spoke briefly with Natasha (she was really busy helping Bianca with the Beach Social this week) and she will love to help me do a dinner for parents like the Black and White Party. I know that Bianca will definitely will love to hop in and I will speak with Zoë because she didn't replay to my email. I want to set up a meeting with them this coming Friday to speak about what I got myself into, find a date and make a list of all the things that need to get done.

-I've been looking at plane tickets and I found good prices the cheapest one I found so far is about $700 dollars.

Well that is a small summary of my progress in CAS. However I'm really nervous and excited about final big event with is the adult dinner. This will be definitely stepping it up to all the events and fundraisers that I have done so far and it will teach a lot of new things. I hope it all goes well!

It's a new year with more planning!

It's a new year and I'm ready to get on board with more CAS planning! In the first trimester I manages to fundraise $150 dollars for the scholarship, with is good but that only covers about 1/10 of all the cost. However I have many ideas to get the rest of the money.

Jim, the founder of the Camp is here for this week and next week. I spoke with him about the plan and he gave me ideas, also he said that he will be in charge of helping look for a place to stay for the student, the most possible option is that he or she will stay at the dorms with one of the consoler, however there is another issue, the transportation because the camp is 2 hours away from the airport. Jim will be speaking with college professor to see if they will volunteer or the counselors and our last resort will be paying transportation.

I sent an email to Miss Kellie (our Biology teacher) to start thinking about students that could be good candidates, now we have 3 candidates and they are all great and now I want to raise as much money as possible so all of the could go! But first things first, get enought for at least one. During my meeting with Jim we came up to do a raffle which is what I will be planning this month; Jim said that he could bring down 2 Ipads and we could raffle them. He was saying we could get a cheap last year Ipad on amazon or ebay for $200 and then do a raffle and people will love it so we will get a lot of money from that. Also I will try to get in contact with people from Frijoles Locos and see if they are interested in donating something related to surf and do a raffle from that as well. I like Jim's idea a lot, however it will be a risky investment. He will be coming back to CR in February so I have time to do another family dinner and have enough money to get the Ipad, however it would be best if the item was donated.

In order to do the raffle I need to speak with some of the students from the business class to ask them how they are organizing the raffle and then take their instructions and then do it myself. I will do that this week.

Regarding the family dinners I want to do one ASAP but February is full of events! I wanted to do it in Don Brasilito but I haven't received response from them and I don't want to be too pushy. It's like I'm having a mental argument with myself one part of me says be patient and wait and the other is like email them again, didn't you learn anything from the Bingo and Lucrecia? She would always say don't be afraid to ask or to be too pushy as long as it's for a good cause! It's a motivating motto. So I will email them again and if I don't get an answer from the by the end of the week I will contact another parent and plan the next family dinner with them at Patagonias or Bamboo Sushi. In the mean time this week I will try to find a good date for that and for the raffle.

OMG I'm starting to feel overwhelmed!I have so much to write about! Okay, focus, so another thing I want to do is do a adult dinner like the one from Arbol de Angel. It's a one night event, adults like it and it raises a lot of money. I will speak with Miss Amy to see if she know who was incharge of the one from Arbol de Angel to get them as my mentor and have their guidances and also ask her about any 10th graders who are interested in helping me with the advertisement and planning.

Well I think that is all for now. I will be reporting at the end of the week my accomplishments and complications (hopefully there isn't any) regarding my planning.

Wish me luck!
